Dr. Douglas A. Hardesty, MD FAANS
Dr. Douglas Hardesty is an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He is a board-certified (ABNS) neurosurgeon at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy with a clinical specialization in benign and malignant brain tumors as well as practicing general neurosurgery. He is director of the skull base program program at CHI Creighton. As an attending neurosurgeon, Dr. Hardesty has performed more than 1,800 procedures for both routine and complex neurosurgical pathology.
Dr. Hardesty graduated from Earlham College with a B.A. in Chemistry in 2007, and subsequently obtained his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 2011. He trained at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ, for neurosurgical residency. In 2016-2017 he completed a subspecialty fellowship at The Ohio State University in minimally invasive and endoscopic endonasal surgery under the mentorship of Dr. Daniel Prevedello. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honor societies. His academic interests include open skull base surgery, endoscopic / minimal-access skull base techniques, and resident education. Research interests include the molecular biology of skull base tumors, and patient quality-of-life outcomes after cranial neurosurgery. Dr. Hardesty is active in the AANS, CNS, and NASBS organizations.
Douglas and his wife, an author, reside in Omaha with their two dogs.
